Zimbabwe’s all-rounders drug test come clean after four months of suspension
Zimbabwe Cricket cleared Wessly Madhevere and Brandon Mavuta on May 9th after the all-rounders were banned for four months due to recreational drug charges.
The players were also fined and had to give away 50% of their salaries.
Zimbabwe Cricket’s medical team supervised their recovery and rehabilitation and they were also ordered to train in the high-performance programme.
The player’s reports came clean in their drug tests upon the end of their suspension period said Zimbabwe Cricket in a press release.
The Managing Director of Zimbabwe Cricket Givemore Makoni said in the press release released by the board that he is pleased to welcome back Wessly and Brandon to the team after their suspension and rehabilitation.
He also added that the two players regret and acknowledge their actions and have promised to stay clean and focus on their careers and cricket.
It should be noted that the two players have promising careers as they made their last appearance for the Zimbabwean team against Ireland in December at home last year.
They also played one match each in Zimbabwe’s local Logan Cup a first-class league. Wessley played for Mashonaland Eagles and Mavuta represented Mid West Rhinos.
Other than Mavuta and Wessley, Kevin Kasuza has also suspended from all cricket activities four months ago. There have been no updates regarding the batter from Zimbabwe Cricket.
