He emphasized teamwork and supported the point that if the team loses the burden must not be thrown away on the captain.

“First of all, I don’t know who are these people that criticize Babar Azam for the loss. They should understand the concept of teamwork. The responsibility of the captain is to provide the right direction for the team which they must follow. In my opinion, Babar Azam is the only player in Pakistan right now, who plays with proper technique. He must remain optimistic and focus on his career without thinking about the criticism.” Imran Nazir responded.

Babar Azam holds the record for one of the best captains with optimum results. As the captain of Pakistan, Babar Azam has participated in 133 games. He has participated in one tie, four draws, and won 78 games while losing 43. Seven games yielded no outcome. But despite these stats, he has always been criticized that he is not a good captain, he just can’t handle the pressure of being a captain, and this also affects his overall batting performance resultantly.

Responding to these questions, Imran Nazir commented, “It doesn’t matter who the captain is, it could be Babar or Shaheen. It depends on the team also if your team is weak or fails to maintain an average what can a captain do? Also, he should have been given the proper time. In every field experience matters a lot and it comes with time which Babar Azam didn’t have.”

In the podcast, he highlighted the main problem that in the history of Pakistan teams there are players that have been changing every two years just because of the lack of experienced coaches or mentors. He mentioned some honorable names that he thinks can be good choices for coaches like Inzamam-ul-Haq, Muhammad Yousaf, Abdul-ur-Razzaq, Shahid Khan Afridi, and many more. He was asked if he would be given a chance to train the Pakistan team and what will he do.

“I will be pleased and say yes if I ever come across a chance like that. Our main aim must be to build the team and it will be easy if we already have someone with experience or who has represented Pakistan.”

He also advised all the players to be mentally strong irrespective of the situation or any circumstances.
