T20 World Cup: Netherlands reveal replacements of their injured players

The Netherlands cricket team suffered a blow to their T20 World Cup preparations with the news that key players Fred Klaassen and Daniel Doram will miss the tournament due to injuries.

The Dutch are currently in a Tri-Series against Scotland and Ireland, aiming to find peak form before the big event. Kyle Klein and Saqib Zulfiqar have been called up as replacements.

Following injuries to Fred Klaassen and Daniel Doram, the Netherlands squad for the T20 World Cup has been bolstered by Kyle Klein and Saqib Zulfiqar.

Klein, previously named as a traveling reserve, has limited experience with just one T20I and two ODIs under his belt. Zulfiqar brings more experience, having played in six T20Is and 15 ODIs. He’s also a bowling option with nine wickets to his name at an economy rate of 6.46.

Scott Edwards, who led the Netherlands in the 2022 T20 World Cup, will continue at the helm for the upcoming edition starting June 2nd. The Dutch squad finds itself in Group D alongside Bangladesh, Nepal, South Africa, and Sri Lanka. Their journey begins on June 4th against Nepal in Dallas.

Men in Orange will play two warm-up fixtures against Sri Lanka and Canada before their tournament opener against Nepal. Talking about the Netherlands’ recent ICC event, they featured in the ODI World Cup 2023 held in India and impressed the world with their performance. They inflicted a loss to the giant South Africa and beat Bangladesh later in the tournament.
