LEGENDARY MUHAMMAD HAFEEZ AND PCB SPLIT WAYS
Muhammad Hafeez And PCB Split Ways: Feb. 15, 2024: Top board officials reportedly sent a clear message to Muhammad Hafeez that his skills would not be needed for some time.
Expert cricketer Mohammad Hafeez has proudly served Pakistan in various sports. He has made a long-lasting impact on the world of international cricket with an impressive record of 55 Tests, 218 One-Day Internationals (ODIs), and 119 T20 Internationals.
In November 2023, Hafeez became the director of cricket, taking over from Mickey Arthur. This switch came after the team’s poor performance in the Asia Cup 2023 and the World Cup 2023 led to big changes in management.

Mohammad Hafeez has been recognized for his skills and knowledge in cricket, in addition to his impressive sporting career. His dedication to the game increased as he was appointed to the technical committee.
Muhammad Hafeez was also the director when the team left for the Australian tour in December 2023. They lost all three test matches to Australia. However, before the conclusion of the New Zealand tour, Pakistan also didn’t do great while playing against New Zealand; they lost 4 T20 matches out of 5. Chaudhry Zaka Ashraf, the chairman of the PCB management committee, resigned from his role to be away from his board.
In a statement released by the PCB ON X (formally Twitter), appreciation is given to Mohammad Hafeez, who holds the respected position of Director within the Pakistan men’s cricket team, for his precious and necessary contributions.
“The PCB extends heartfelt gratitude to Mohammad Hafeez, Director, Pakistan men’s cricket team, for his invaluable contributions,” the statement said.
When Zaka Ashraf was leading the board, some people on the board were worried about how Muhammad Hafeez was performing. These worries were clear when the tour was over, and Muhammad Hafeez was supposed to talk to the media in detail, but he didn’t.
After talking with the person who was acting as the Chairman of PCB, it was clear that CEO Salman Naseer and Director International Osman Wahla were not completely happy with how Muhammad Hafeez performed.
The former all-rounder’s passion was acknowledged by the PCB, who stated, “Hafeez’s passion for the game has inspired players, and his mentorship during the tour of Australia and New Zealand has been of immense importance.”
In the center of these events, another important incident happened when Muhammad Hafeez couldn’t arrange a meeting with the new PCB Chairman, Mohsin Raza Naqvi.
He tried to reach out multiple times to Nabila and Media Director Alia Rashid in the chairman’s office, but Muhammad Hafeez didn’t receive a positive response.
