Imad Wasim Discusses Returning to his retirement
Imad Wasim said he would like to play cricket internationally again, but he had a few conditions.
Imad announced that he was retiring in November 2023, but he is now making hints that things may change, and he will return to play for his nation. Imad supported his choice to retire from international cricket in an interview with PakPassion, although he suggested he may return if Pakistan needed him.
“Yes, one can never be sure. But as I’ve already told you, I completely agree with my choice since it was mine. But you never know when Pakistan could need you, so you have to take action.” Imad Wasim said.
The left-handed hitter highlighted the significance of being clear about his position on the team—not necessarily as the captain, but as a senior member. In addition, he wants a leadership position that involves deciding the team’s direction and strategies in addition to having more responsibility than simply playing.
“What’s important to me is clarity, that’s the thing. It’s about trusting me, not as a captain but as an experienced player, with the authority to guide the squad in the direction that I or a group of experienced players choose,” he commented.
He added: “The right mix, right style, and right cricket are what I want to see from Pakistan. Taking a retirement is very acceptable. “I’m really happy and I’m still playing cricket worldwide.”
Imad Wasim recognized that athletes may experience times when they are not mentally present but made it plain that there is nothing fundamentally wrong with retirements.
“It is OK to take retirements and to abstain mentally from some things. In other words, I am still and truly pleased. I travel the world playing cricket,” he added.
A light of hope for something positive emerged as he wrapped up his remarks.
“Hopefully something positive happens shortly.”
Imad’s announcement in November that he was retiring from international cricket shocked the fans. Imad Wasim said on X, the previous Twitter platform, that he was considering his options for playing international cricket before ending his eight-year career.
“I want to express my heartfelt thanks to the PCB for all of their help over the years; it has been a true pleasure to represent Pakistan. Every one of my 121 outings in the T20 and ODI formats was an incredible experience.” Imad remarked.
Imad Wasim expressed his best wishes for Pakistani cricket and expressed appreciation to his supporters.
“I appreciate the Pakistani fans’ consistent and enthusiastic support throughout the years. I would like to express my gratitude to my family and friends for their unmatched assistance in helping me reach my full potential.”
In particular, after making his debut on the international circuit in 2015, Imad Wasim has played 55 ODIs and 66 T20Is for Pakistan. With the help of six half-centuries, he achieved 1,472 runs in six formats. He was a member of the Pakistani squad that won the ICC Champions Trophy in 2017. In April 2023, he did, however, play his last game for Pakistan in the home T20I series against New Zealand.
