T20 Blast 2024: Hampshire’s Naveen-ul-Haq out for T20 Blast
Hampshire Hawks’ T20 Blast 2024 campaign faces a setback as Afghan pace bowler Naveen-ul-Haq has been ruled out due to unavoidable personal circumstances.
The 24-year-old was a highly anticipated addition to the squad, known for his prowess in the T20 format. Boasting over 216 wickets in just 179 appearances at an impressive average of 24.09, Naveen was expected to bolster the Hawks’ bowling attack during the crucial final six group matches and potentially the knockout stages in September.
His absence is a significant blow, especially considering his experience in the T20 Blast. Having impressed in three previous stints with Leicestershire, where he bagged over 50 wickets, Naveen’s ability to perform under pressure was another reason for Hampshire’s excitement.
His experience in high-profile leagues like the IPL, PSL, and SA20 further solidified his reputation as a valuable asset.

Despite this unexpected development, the Hawks remain optimistic. They are actively engaged in advanced discussions to secure a replacement overseas player who can fill the void left by Naveen.
With the season opener against Surrey at the Utilita Bowl fast approaching on May 30th, Hampshire is expected to announce their decision regarding the replacement next week.
Cricket fans will be keen to see who steps up to take Naveen’s place and contribute to the Hawks’ quest for T20 Blast glory.
