Edgbaston to be turned into a Fan Park for the Pak vs Ind clash in T20 World Cup 2024
England’s Edgbaston Stadium is to be transformed into a Fan Park for the clash between Pak vs Ind on June 9th in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 next month.
The ICC is allowing UK fans to watch the big clash on a screen. The event will be graced by comedian and cricket commentator Aatif Nawaz and former Indian and Pakistani cricketers.
Stuart Cain Edgbaston Chief Executive has said Edgbaston is the only venue in the country to have been chosen by the ICC as a T20 World Cup Fan Zone location which is amazing.
He added that it is an opportunity for the local communities to be part of the T20 World Cup experience and he is sure it will be a fantastic occasion.
Reminiscing the 2019 Cricket World Cup atmosphere, Cain added that the fans during the 2019 World Cup clash between Pakistan and India generated an electric atmosphere and they have no doubts that they can get close to replicating that in the Edgbaston Fan Zone.
The Fan Park will allow the visitors to enjoy a family picnic area with activities including a cricket skill challenge and performance related to cultural aspects by both the Indian and Pakistan performers.
Chris Tetley, ICC Head of Events has said that Fan parks are an important part of bringing World Cups to more people across the globe, and they are delighted Edgbaston Stadium will be hosting the screening of one of cricket’s biggest rivalries.
He is sure there will be a great atmosphere on the day and based on previous India and Pakistan matches that have taken place at Edgbaston it will be an occasion not to be missed.
It is estimated that 8000 fans can visit Edgbaston for the match on June 9 between the arch-rivals, a press release by Warwickshire County Cricket Club has detailed.
The T20 World Cup will begin on June 1st and will be co-hosted by the USA and the West Indies.
