Babar Azam becomes most successful captain in T20I history
Babar Azam, Pakistan Cricket Team’s captain, has become the most successful captain in T20I history as the national team won the 2nd T20I against Ireland on May 12th, Sunday at the Clontarf Cricket Club.
The team had defeated Ireland with seven wickets standing.
The record was previously held by Brian Masaba of Uganda who has 44 T20I wins as a captain under his belt. Afghanistan’s Asghar Afghan and England’s Eoin Morgan have won 42 matches as captain for their teams.
Babar Azam has surpassed him as his tally is not at 45 T20I victories.

Not only this, Babar recently overtook Australia’s Aaron Finch as the player has captained his national team in the most matches with the Pakistani skipper having captained Pakistan in 78 T20Is.
Finch had captained Australia in 76 T20Is and he also won his country the T20 World Cup.
The list continues with India’s MS Dhoni and Eoin Morgan captaining their sides in 72 matches each while New Zealand’s Kane Williamson has 71 matches under his captaincy belt.
Babar Azam will captain the T20I side in the remaining T20I against Ireland on May 14th and the upcoming series against England where the two sides will play four T20Is.
He will also lead the team into the T20 World Cup 2024 next month in the USA and the West Indies.
