Afghanistan appoint Dwayne Bravo as consultant for T20 World Cup 2024
Dwayne Bravo, the former West Indies all-rounder, is joining Afgcoaching staff as a consultant for the T20 World Cup in the West Indies and USA next month.
In preparation for the T20 World Cup, Afghanistan’s cricket team, already in St. Kitts and Nevis, will soon be joined by bowling consultant Bravo for a grueling 10-day training camp.
Bravo, a T20 legend with two World Cup wins under his belt for the West Indies, brings his vast experience to the Afghanistan squad as their bowling consultant. Though retired from international cricket since 2021, Bravo continues to dominate in T20 leagues worldwide.

Fresh off a championship win with MI Emirates in a recent T20 tournament, Bravo joins Afghanistan’s coaching staff. He boasts an unmatched record of 625 wickets in 573 T20 games, solidifying his position as the format’s all-time leading wicket-taker.
Bravo’s coaching credentials go beyond his playing days. Since retiring from the IPL in December 2022, he’s served as bowling coach for the Chennai Super Kings, a powerhouse team. This experience, coupled with his T20 mastery, positions him to significantly elevate Afghanistan’s bowling attack.
With crucial warm-up matches against Oman (May 29) and Scotland (May 31) on the horizon, Afghanistan has the perfect platform to integrate Dwayne Bravo’s expertise before their T20 World Cup defense begins.
Afghanistan is placed in the Group C with New Zealand, West Indies, Papua New Guinea and Uganda. Their first match is scheduled on June 5th against Uganda in Providence, West Indies.
