PCB TERMINATED HARIS RAUF’S CENTRAL CONTRACT DUE TO AUSTRALIA TOUR DENIAL
PCB Terminated Haris Rauf’s Central Contract: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Thursday that fast bowler Haris Rauf’s core agreement will end following an inquiry regarding his refusal to go with Pakistan’s Test team to Australia in 2023–2024.
On 15 February 2024, the national cricket governing body released a statement saying, “Fast bowler Haris Rauf has been punished by the Pakistan Cricket Board, following an investigation into his refusal to join Pakistan’s Test squad for the tour of Australia 2023–24.”
The PCB-created committee had general hearings and investigated the issue before making its findings. The views of all interested parties are considered in this process.

“Haris’s central contract has been terminated as of December 1, 2023, and no NOC (no objection certificate) to play in any foreign league will be granted up to June 30, 2024,” said the statement.
According to the statement, Haris was given the opportunity for a face-to-face hearing by the PCB administration on January 30, 2024, according to the justice rules, and his response was considered insufficient. According to the PCB, for every player, representing Pakistan is the highest honor and distinction. It further stated that:
“It is a serious violation of the central contract to decline to be included in Pakistan’s Test team in the absence of a medical report or an acceptable justification.”
The highly observed bowler Rauf had withdrawn from the Pakistani team for the Test series against Australia, which was scheduled to take place from December 2023 to January 2024. Instead flown to Australia for the Big Bash League (BBL), which was held in the same nation. When Haris refused, Wahab Riaz, the head selector, stated when he was revealing the team.
“The team will be affected by his absence. I was even ready to assist him because he had not played in Australia, but he didn’t agree,” Riaz said.
The white-ball speed-master had withdrawn from the Test series due to worries over his fitness and workload. The fast bowler had earlier expressed concerns about his workload and fitness, but the Pakistani team’s physiotherapist had relieved any fears about injuries.
He has played only one test match thus far, against England in 2022. He has played nine matches in first-class cricket, although he has played more than 200 white-ball games in other formats.
A week before the Australia Test series, Rauf had responded to the PCB over a show-cause warning by stating that he did not have enough red-ball practice on the back.
The 30-year-old had stated that he would not be available for the three matches, despite the notification stating that players under central contracts should always be accessible for the national team.
Chief Selector Wahab Riaz and veteran cricket players also took a tough opinion against the fast bowler for not wanting to play the lengthier format.
