BABAR AZAM DOMINATED ODI RANKING, ALL 3 FORMATS RANKINGS ANNOUNCED BY ICC

In ODI’s Babar Azam is on the top of the list in the latest ICC rankings revealed on 7 February 2024.

ICC has announced the new ranking of all the teams and the players in the team. Babar Azam, from Pakistan, steadfastly maintains his dominant position in the ODI batter rankings, above the Indian batters consisting of Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma.

In ODI bowlers, South Africa’s Keshav Maharaj continues to appear in the top spot, and Australia’s Josh Hazelwood has climbed to second place. At the same time, his fellow teammate Adam Zampa has made significant progress in securing the third position. Meanwhile, Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan maintains his status as the number-one ODI all-rounder.

In the T20 batter ranking, India’s Surya Kumar Yadav maintains his first position at the summit. Following closely behind, England’s Philip Salt claims the second spot, while Pakistan’s Muhammad Rizwan secures third place, and Babar Azam settles in fourth.

In the ranking of T20 bowlers, England’s Adil Rashid secures the first position, showcasing his amazing performance with the ball. Akeal Hosein from the West Indies got second place in the ranking while Sri Lankan bowler Maheesh Theekshana is third on the list. Pakistan’s Haris Rauf occupies the 20th position, while Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan continues to reign supreme as the top T20 all-rounder.

In the latest Test Player Rankings, New Zealand’s Kane Williamson maintains his top position. Australia’s Steve Smith has surged to second place after displacing England’s Jurort who is now in third place in the new ICC rankings. Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Babar Azam claims the fifth spot, closely followed by Australia’s Usman Khawaja in sixth.

On the bowling front, India’s Jasprit Bumrah made his way up to the number-one position among Test bowlers, showcasing his remarkable skill and consistency. The right-arm pacer ascended three positions with a total of 881 points, he crossed his teammate Ravichandran Ashwin to claim the title of the number one Test bowler. He made history by taking nine wickets in the match, helping India win by 106 runs against England. This win leveled the series at 1-1. This remarkable achievement marks Jasprit Bumrah as the first pace bowler from India to reach the top of the ICC Test Bowling Rankings. Previously, the highest-ranked Indian pace bowler was the legendary Kapil Dev, who held the second spot in 1979.

South African bowler Kagiso Rabada holds 2nd place with 851 points on the points table and Ashwin, on the other hand, experienced a slight decline, to hold third place with 841 rating points.

In Test all-rounders, India’s Ravindraraj Deja secured the top spot, highlighting his strength in the game. Notably, no Pakistani player features in the top ten all-rounders rankings, signaling a need for improvement in this aspect for the Pakistani team.

In the latest test team rankings, Australia holds the top spot with a rating of 117, having played 37 matches and accumulated 4345 points. India closely follows in second place with a similar rating of 117, having played 32 matches and 3746 points. England secures the third position with a rating of 115, playing 43 matches and earning 4941 points. South Africa occupies the fourth spot with a rating of 106, participating in 24 matches and gaining 2536 points. New Zealand holds the fifth position, played 26 matches, and gathered 2471 points, resulting in a rating of 95. Pakistan rounds out the rankings in sixth place, playing 29 matches and earning 2576 points, leading to a rating of 89.

In the T20 team rankings, India leads with a rating of 121, played 58 matches, and gained 7020 points. Australia follows closely in second place with a rating of 117, participating in 42 matches and earning 4926 points. South Africa secures the third position with a rating of 110, playing 37 matches and gathering 4062 points. Pakistan occupies the fourth spot, having played 36 matches and with 3922 points, resulting in a rating of 109. New Zealand holds the fifth position, by playing 46 matches and earning 4708 points, with a rating of 102. England ranked in sixth place, participating in 41 matches, and gaining 3934 points, leading to a rating of 96.

In the latest team rankings, India leads the table with an impressive rating of 266, having played 71 matches and accumulated 18867 points. New Zealand follows closely behind in second place, with a rating of 256, participating in 60 matches and earning 15387 points. England shares the same rating of 256 with New Zealand but occupies the third position, having played 48 matches and gathered 12305 points. Australia secures the fourth spot with a rating of 250, participating in 39 matches and amassing 9760 points. Pakistan completes the top five, having played 58 matches and earned 14454 points, resulting in a rating of 249.
