Richard Seletswane and Oliver Whitehead tried to increase the run rate with aggressive shots, but Saharan remained with his spinners. This strategy worked when Whitehead was dismissed at the end of the 40th over. In the 43rd over, Seletswane was joined by skipper Juan James. Their partnership boosted South Africa’s innings, and they became the first team to score over 200 runs against India in the tournament.

Naman Tiwari and Limbani took wickets in the late overs, but powerful hitting from Tristan Luus, who scored 23 runs from 12 balls, helped South Africa reach a total of 244/7.

On the other hand, Kwena Maphaka started the innings with a strong delivery, causing Adarsh Singh to hit the ball with the edge of his bat, sending it to the wicketkeeper. Then, within the fourth over, Tristan Luus stuck Musheer Khan, one of India’s first-class batters in the tournament, at second slip, while he had only scored four runs.

Luus led the African crew by taking two greater wickets early in the sport, making India stand at 32/4 by the 12th over. After a careful start, Saharan and Sachin Dhas commenced to boost up. Dhas started to score runs fast and hit 3 boundaries in the 19th over. India reached one hundred runs within the 25th over. Dhas had already scored fifty runs by the time they reached a partnership of a hundred.

As India got stronger, Juan James put Luus and Maphaka back to bowl. But India’s fifth pair stayed calm. They carefully run between the wickets with strong hits to get closer to winning. Maphaka got Dhas out, hitting the ball to the fielders in the 43rd over. This broke their partnership. Maphaka did well and got Avanish Aravelly out on his last bowling ball. Now, India needed 19 runs from 18 balls.

Saharan, and with help from Raj Limbani, almost reached the target, even though India lost a few wickets. Limbani scored the winning runs in the second last ball of the 49th over. However, when the scores were tied, India lost their captain for 81 runs due to a fantastic run-out.

India will face either Pakistan or Australia in the final match on Sunday. The second semi-final will be played between Pakistan and Australia on 8 February 2024.
