Bangladesh 15-members Squad for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2023 shall not feature their star player Tamim Iqbal, as he has been dropped from the team due to his persistent back injury.
On the 26th of September, Bangladesh Cricket formally announced their 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC World Cup in India 2023, in accordance with the ICC regulations that require the finalization of the selection of players bound for the World Cup by the deadline of tomorrow. Unfortunately, the Bangladesh Cricket team’s key player Tamim Iqbal was not available in the World Cup because of his Injury.
According to the information, it has been revealed that Tamim Iqbal had previously notified the selectors a few days ago that they should give the importance of consider his ongoing back injury while making the final squad selection.
The announcement of the Bangladesh 15-members squad for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2023 was initially planned to take place at 5:45 PM (Bangladesh Standard Time). The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) decided to postpone the announcement until after the conclusion of the third One Day International (ODI) match between Bangladesh and New Zealand.
Tamim Iqbal made a return to the Bangladesh team during the second One Day International (ODI) match against New Zealand on September 23. After reversing his retirement decision from the format earlier this year. He scored 44 runs off 55 balls in Bangladesh’s 86-run defeat against New Zealand in the 2nd ODI. Tamim Iqbal still felt discomfort in his injured back in the 2nd ODI against New Zealand.
