Marca reported that Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the 2023-24 NBA season on Wednesday.
Nonetheless, the report also disclosed that NBA icon Shaquille O’Neil believes the 29-year-old athlete is not worthy of it.

Following his victory over Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Luka Doncic for his third MVP win, Jokic appeared on TNT’s “Inside The NBA”.

In the episode, Shaquille O’Neil was very direct, stating his opinion that Gilgeous-Alexander should win the MVP instead of Jokic. Shaq spoke directly to Jokic, telling him: “You know I adore you.” You are the top player in the league. I desire to extend my congratulations to you. However, I want you to know my opinion before anyone else does; I believe SGA deserved to be the MVP; that is not meant to disrespect you.

Diplomatically, Jokic responded to Shaq’s comments by saying: “We do not make judgments here, it’s okay, that’s your opinion.”

Marca reported that Jokic’s dominant display all season earned him an impressive 79 first-place votes and a total of 926 points.

Jokic’s impressive statistical ability is highlighted by his remarkable achievement of averaging more than 25 points, 12 rebounds, and nine assists per game.

It has been over sixty years since Oscar Robertson last accomplished this milestone.
