PSL 10: Pakistan Cricket Board is innovating the Pakistan Super League’s 10th season
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is considering experimenting with various changes and additions to the Pakistan Super League (PSL 10) to increase the attraction and excitement towards the league.
Discussions in the recent PSL governing council meeting reveal novelty to the league.
The most exciting of the innovations proposed is of the team’s submitting two playing XI’s at the toss.
After the toss, the captains on behalf of the teams would pick one of the playing XIs for the match.
This feature will pose a benefit for the teams losing the toss.

Another feature discussed in the meeting was the introduction of Power Surge, similar to that of the Big Bash League (BBL) of Australia.
The power surge allows the to team initiate a power play of two overs, after the 11th over to the last over of an inning.
During the power surge, only two fielders can be allowed outside the circle.
If the proposal of the Power Surge comes to be then the original power play of six overs at the start of an innings will be shortened to four overs.
However, the sources suggest that the PSL management is not in favor of IPL’s Impact Player or BBL’s X-factor rule and the PSL will abide by the traditional 11 players a team rule.
The 10th edition of the PSL will most probably be hosted during the April 7th to May 20th window.
The decision has been taken to avoid coinciding with the Champions Trophy 2025 which will be hosted by Pakistan next year. However, the April-May window will clash the PSL with the IPL.
