Delhi Capitals has announced the replacement for Mitchell Marsh

Indian Premier League’s team Delhi Capitals has announced the replacement for Mitchell Marsh and it is Afghanistan’s all-rounder Gulbadin Naib for the rest of the tournament.

Mitchell Marsh was injured in his hamstring during a match against the Mumbai Indians and was instantly flown to Perth, Australia to receive treatment. Later he was announced unavailable due to a rest before the World Cup begins in June. It was done to ensure that he remains fresh and fit for the World Cup.

Marsh is more than likely to lead the side in the T20 World Cup. Ricky Ponting has said that “his availability in the World Cup would not be an issue as Marsh continues his recovery and rehab back home.”

Marsh was only able to play four matches in the IPL where he scored a total of 61 runs and took 1 wickets. His highest score was 23 runs only.

Naib, albeit a famous Afghani player, will be a new addition to the IPL as it will be the first time he is playing in the league. He has played in Bangladesh Premier League and Desert T20 Challenge apart from Afghanistan’s very own Shpageeza Cricket League.

He will be joined by Rashid Khan, Noor Ahmed, and Naveen-ul-Haq in IPL, his fellow countrymen.

In 65 T20Is, Gulbadin Naib has scored 807 runs and has grabbed 26 wickets.

DC is currently at the 6th spot on the points table.
