Bismah Maroof has Announced Retirement from International Cricket
Former Pakistan Women’s Cricket Team captain, Bismah Maroof has announced retirement from international cricket, confirmed PCB through a press release on April 25th, Thursday.
Maroof has represented Pakistan in 136 ODIs and 140 T20Is, a massive total of 276 international matches which is also a national record between the time December 2006 and April 2024.
In those matches, she has scored 3369 ODI runs with 21 ODI fifties, and in T20Is she has scored 2893 runs with the help of 12 fifties in the format. Her total runs amassing to 6262.
She managed to grab 80 international wickets on behalf of Pakistan.
She also holds the record of most runs (3369 runs) without a century in ODIs and a unique record of being dismissed at 99 runs in an innings in O” Is.

In T20Is, she’s the 7th player with the most matches which is 140 matches and she has the 8th most runs (2893) in the format. She also has the highest run (60) partnership for the seventh wicket in T20Is.
She scored 6262 runs (3369 ODIs and 2893 T20Is) and took 80 wickets with the help of 33 half-centuries (21 ODIs and 12 T20I fifties) in international cricket.
Maroof has captained Pakistan in 96 international matches, including her fourth Women’s World Cup which was held in 2022 in New Zealand.
She has also represented Pakistan in all of the T20 World Cups and captained the last two in 2020 and 2023 held in Australia and South Africa respectively.
In 2010 and 2014, Maroof won the gold medal in the Asian Games representing Pakistan.

“I have decided to retire from the game I love the most. It has been an incredible journey, filled with challenges, victories, and unforgettable memories,” Bismah said.
“I want to express my gratitude to my family, who has supported me throughout my cricketing journey, from the very beginning until now.
“I also want to extend my thanks to the Pakistan Cricket Board for believing in me and providing the platform to showcase my talent. The support from the PCB has been invaluable, particularly in implementing the first-ever parental policy for me, which enabled me to represent my country at the highest level while being a mother.”
“I am deeply grateful to the fans whose unwavering support has been a constant throughout my career, wherever and whenever I represented my country.
“Lastly, I would like to thank my fellow players, who have become like family to me. The camaraderie we shared both on and off the field is something I will cherish forever.”
